OPTIMISM

Everyone, regardless of how naturally optimistic he or she is, has to work at remaining positive.

There are just some folks who seem eternally positive. No matter what ill fortune befalls them, they manage to keep the faith.

What is the source of their optimism—and how can we tap into it? It’s not a matter of magic or mystery. There are very likely moments of doubt, worry, or gloom with which even the most relentlessly optimistic must cope. But if we can make it a habit to seek out sustenance or motivation in ways that work for us personally—whether through prayer, by reaching into ourselves, or by looking at or listening to whatever feeds us inspiration—we can learn to find strength when we need it.

Call to Action: On this day, I will take five minutes to talk to my child about ways to identify the things that make her feel better, so that she might not linger in negativity, but work her way out of it.
