SATISFACTION

I rewrite all the way to the printer. I’m never satisfied.

—Toni Morrison

Whatever our work—raising children, performing our job at the office—there is always room for improvement. Maybe we could take the kids to the library or museums more often, or dedicate more energy to our tasks at work. We generally sense it when we’re functioning at only half speed.

Taking all this into account, there also comes a point when we must content ourselves with our efforts, If there remains a nagging sense that we could have/should have done more, let’s use it to guide us in our future efforts.

Let’s never be satisfied—but let’s not let ourselves become paralyzed by perfectionism or regret.

On this day, I will take five minutes to remember a time when I felt very satisfied, and I will take that feeling and let it inspire me in my endeavors today.
