Our children may learn about heroes of the past. Our task is to make ourselves architects of the future.

It is not enough to point to the heroes of our struggle and simply expect our children to absorb and mimic their exemplary qualities. We have an obligation to see to it that the future holds promise and opportunities.

As architects of the future of African-Americans, we must accept the burden of fighting the fights that need to be fought now, of making inroads where we can, so that our children have a better place from which to start.

Call to Action:  On this day, I will do at least one thing that advances me toward one of my goals.
